Matthews is the author of The Cairo Series and a parent who created the books after searching for children’s stories that combined cultural representation with real life skill building and coming up empty. The series was built on a simple promise: give children the conversations and tools that most adults wish they had received earlier. You can read the full story on our About page.

Cairo is a name that carries history, culture, and ambition. It felt right for a character who is curious about the world, proud of where he comes from, and always moving toward something. The name was chosen intentionally, just like everything else in the series.
